Get involved early

As a young person in Victoria you can volunteer in any of the Society’s Special Works programs.

You can make a difference but volunteering in our Special Works programs.

Education Program

Our Education program volunteers are passionate about learning and seek to motivate the young participants in our programs with this enthusiasm. You may work with a small group of students to develop a love of reading and discussing of books.

Custody Centre Welfare Program

Volunteers offer welfare support and a non-judgmental listening ear to individuals held in police custody. Vinnies staff and volunteers provide learning services, welfare support, make phone calls and offer a non-judgmental listening ear to individuals held in police or corrections custody.

Soup Vans

Our Soup Van volunteers offer a 'hand up' to individuals experiencing disadvantage. You may be preparing and packing food, assisting with loading the Soup Vans and offloading deliveries, distributing food on a ‘Soup Van Run’ and assisting in cleaning up the kitchen and soup van vehicles in a team.

Vinnies Shops

Our retail volunteers are the face of our Vinnies Shops, coming across people from all walks of life on a daily basis. You may be sorting donated clothing and homewares, preparing stock of sale, and serving customers as part of the team.

Welfare Call Centre

The Welfare Call Centre located in Box Hill is the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking assist from the Society. Call Centre volunteers receive and accurately record all requests for assistance which is then passed onto our local groups called conferences to enable them to carry out their work.
