Home Visitation

Home visitation is the core work of the St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria.

Managed through our local conferences with members visiting people in their homes to help provide the most appropriate assistance to the person’s or family’s needs.

Home visitation involves being a supportive listener and may also include providing food or food vouchers, clothing, furniture, budget support, assistance with utility bills or back to school costs, information and advocacy.

Home visitation is the core work of the St Vincent de Paul Society. For assistance call 1800 305 330 (Victoria only) between the hours of 10am and 3pm Monday-Friday.

Home visitation work is managed through our conferences with local members visiting people in their homes and help provide the most appropriate assistance to the person’s or family’s needs.

This process will involve being a supportive listener and may also include providing food or food vouchers, clothing, furniture, budget support, assistance with utility bills or back to school costs, information and advocacy. Victoria’s conferences meet on a regular basis and work closely with St Vincent de Paul Society's Vinnies Shops to provide assistance.

Home visitation is a way by which people can be supported and encouraged to take control of their lives. It allows members the privileged opportunity to enter another’s home and life, to accompany them as they move forward.

As well as visiting people in their homes, many conference members also engage in activities, such as visiting people in aged residential care, prison visitation, and offering assistance to the Society's special works. All of these activities are about offering friendship and establishing relationships with people in need.
