Nominate an extraordinary person to recognise their contribution to the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Society recognition awards

The Society Recognition Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of our members, volunteers and staff in their many activities. There are five levels of recognition.

Vincentian cross (for members only)

Awarded to members for the highest degree of service to the Society and the people it serves having made significant contributions at a leadership level.

Associate life membership (for members only)

Membership recognition for those no longer able to be active members due to age or illness and who have completed at least 20 years of active service.

Recognition of outstanding service (for members, volunteers and staff)

Awarded to members, volunteers and staff in recognition of outstanding dedication and service which sets them apart from their peers.

Values awards (for volunteers and staff)

There are three categories for nomination:

Values - nominate a colleague, peer or team who lives out and acts our values of Commitment, Courage, Advocacy, Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Empathy every day.

Team achievement–nominate a team or group of individuals who you feel you have gone above and beyond to achieve something extraordinary for the Society and those we assist.

Innovation–nominate an individual or team who you feel has made a significant contribution to the Society through their innovative ideas and passion for going the extra mile.

Information on the nomination process will be forwarded each year at a time to be decided and details of the closing date and judging criteria will be given at that time.

Length of service

(for members, volunteers and staff)

A badge and certificate to recognise years served by members, volunteers and staff are available in 5 year increments.

Who can be nominated

Members who have made an outstanding contribution to the Society involving significant achievements for the benefit of the organisation or others.

How do you prepare the nomination

Using the nomination form include a statement giving details on why you think the person should be nominated using the guidelines suggested.

How are nominations assessed

The reviewing panel will be made up of Territory President, Chair of Membership Committee and one other to be determined.

Is it necessary to provide referees

Yes, the names and address of individuals who would be in a position to comment directly on the nominee’s service should be provided as per the application form.Two references are required for each nomination.

How are recipients told of their award

Recipients are advised in writing of the offer of an award. Administration staff will update award information in the members data base record.Their names will be published in our newsletter and an awards ceremony/event will be part of our Christmas celebration.

Are nominators advised

Yes, nominators are advised by email once the recipient has been advised and has accepted their award.

Associate Life Membership

Who can be nominated

Associate Life Membership

Associate Life Membership is for members of the Society whose age or ill health has led to their retiring from active service with the Society and who wish to continue their membership in name only.

Preparing a nomination

Outline the member’s involvement in the Conference and their reasons for retiring from active service. As a guide, a minimum of 20 years active conference service is required to be eligible for Associate Life Membership to be granted.

Territory Council will consider applications where this period of service has not been achieved if the member has made a significant contribution to the Society through their Conference, Council or Committee service.

The nomination must be signed by the Conference President and sent by email to admin@svdpnt.org.au

How are the nominations assessed

Applications are included in the next Territory Council papers after being received and are ratified by Territory Council.

How are recipients and nominators told of their award

The Conference President will inform the person on their change in status to Associate Life Membership and arrange the presentation of the badge/certificate event appropriate.

Office staff to note the change in the person’s database membership record to Associate Life Membership.

Should for any reason the application not be ratified the Conference President will be notified.

How are recipients and nominators told of their award

Recipients are advised in writing of the award. The Territory President will be advised and the administration staff will update award information. Awards will form part of our Christmas celebrations. 

Are nominators advised

Yes, nominators are advised by email once the recipient has been advised. Should the nomination not be supported by the panel the nominator will be advised and if appropriate an alternative award suggested.
