Donations of Goods

If you have decided it’s time to de-clutter, or the kids have outgrown their clothes, Vinnies shops need these great quality items to help fund Vinnies programs across the country. Funds raised in our shops helps supports 1.3 million vulnerable Australians each year. 

By donating your pre-loved items to Vinnies they will get a new life, support Australians doing it tough, reduce landfill and the impact on the environment.

What can I donate?

When considering whether something can be donated to Vinnies, our rule of thumb is if you’d give it to a friend, then it’s ok to give to Vinnies.

• Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories
• Men’s, women’s and children’s shoes (paired)
• Jewellery
• Children's toys
• Books
• CD's and DVD's
• Homewares, including manchester

For furniture donations, a further assessment is required, and all items will be subject to the driver’s discretion in consultation with Management. Please contact email FurnitureDonations@vinnies.org.au or (02) 9350 9600.

What can’t I donate?

It takes a lot of money and volunteer hours for the thousands of tonnes of items we get that aren’t sellable. There are also state and federal laws and legislation that make it illegal for us to sell particular items. Please do not donate any of the following:

• Children’s furniture i.e. car seat, capsules, cots, bassinets, highchairs, prams
• Clothing/uniforms with school and business logo
• Cracked or broken homewares
• Damaged or dirty furniture
• Dangerous and chemical goods i.e.knives, swords, sharp utensils, gas bottles, paint-related
• Green waste
• Large glass and mirrors
• Mattresses of any condition
• Offensive clothing
• Oversized furniture i.e. TV unit, cabinets, non-dismantled bed frames, glass cabinets and tables
• Pillows of any condition
• Ripped, torn, stained, soil or wet clothing/bedding
• Safety equipment i.e. life jackets, defibrillators, all helmets, inflatables
• Scholar/educational textbooks
• Technology equipment i.e. computers, printers, scanners, laptops
• White goods over 10 years old i.e. fridges, dishwashers and dryers

If you have an item that isn't listed anywhere above, please call your local Vinnies shop on 13 18 12.

How do I donate to Vinnies Shops?

We accept donations at all of our Vinnies shop during business hours. Please drop them off to our staff. 

You can also place donations into our donation bins. If they are full, please do not leave donations outside the bins as they are likely to get damaged due to the weather/environment and we will have to take them to landfill.

Can you pick up donations from my home?

Some of our Vinnies shops can offer pickup. This is limited by our resources, please call your local Vinnies shop on 13 18 12.
