As a Cook at VMCC, you will assist in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring the provision of healthy, varied, and nutritious meals to guests. Your role includes supporting the Head Cook in managing supplies, maintaining hygiene standards, and supervising volunteers while demonstrating empathy and respect towards guests.

  • Maintain high hygiene standards, cleanliness, and organisation in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Support in managing kitchen supplies effectively, ensuring safe handling and storage, and creating nutritious meals using donated goods.
  • Adhere to established work practices and procedures, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and professionalism within the kitchen environment.
  • In the absence of the Head Cook, prepare the required meal and organise volunteers to serve.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work environment, demonstrating a willingness to work varying hours as required, including after-hours work, and contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.

The position will require a flexible approach to working hours, as some after-hours work may be necessary, unrestricted Australian working rights, and willingness to undergo pre-employment police and medical checks as part of the hiring process.

What we can offer you:

  • Work for a trusted and highly respected global charity.
  • A positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Training and Development Opportunities.
  • Confidential and free Employee Assistance Program.
  • Salary packaging options of up to $15,900 per annum for living expenses and $2,650 for meals/entertainment to reduce your tax.
